Jeannie Rubsam

MBA, University of Connecticut
BS, University of Connecticut

While I was born and raised in Connecticut, my first language was French. My parents emigrated from Quebec after they were married, and I learned to speak English right alongside them as they brought me in a baby carrier to their ESL classes.

While I considered majoring in French in college, my love of math led me down a different path, and I began my career in corporate finance upon graduation. For over fifteen years, I worked for an automotive finance company in planning and budgeting – a job I absolutely loved, and not just because of the company perk of driving a Mercedes at age 24! I earned my MBA at night, completing my final capstone course just three months after my first child was born. (To say those years are a blur is an understatement.) I continued working until my youngest child was born, at which time I decided to stay home with my three young children.

A few years later, I returned to the workforce part-time when an opportunity arose in the publishing industry. An avid life-long reader, I jumped at the chance to work for a small London-based children’s book publisher. What started as an assistant to the publisher quickly morphed into a role as the US operations manager, where I handled everything from inventory to finance as this company grew four-fold during my time there.

While I relished my years working in publishing, I always longed to get back to my finance roots, and I was fortunate to be hired as the office manager for HTG.

I’m excited to now use my analytical and organizational skills to support a wonderful team of talented and seasoned finance professionals.

I look forward to what my future here holds as I continue to learn more about this dynamic industry.

That youngest child I referred to earlier will now be a college freshman in the fall, so my husband and I plan to enjoy our new empty-nester status traveling and spending time with family. In my spare time, I love cooking, reading, and walking. I’m an active volunteer at my church and an avid supporter of organizations that fund pediatric cancer research and assist those affected by pediatric cancer.
