Introducing our ‘Financial Foundations’ Educational Series

January 20, 2023 - by Allison Donaldson

financial education

HTG Investment Advisors is pleased to present our new educational series, Financial Foundations, focused on helping young adults better understand the opportunity and impact of saving, investing, and financial planning.

What is the Financial Foundations educational series?

Each month, HTG will email subscribers with easy-to-read topics that will provide a solid foundation for managing your finances.

We know that budgeting, saving, retirement, and investment strategies can be overwhelming, not to mention downright complicated.  You may ask yourself: Where do I start? Why should I start now? What is most important to tackle first?

We believe many young adults have these questions.  And, the last thing they want is to spend valuable time on their days off or at family gatherings talking about budgets, 401(k)s, and health savings accounts – so that’s where we come in.  This program will help educate you on topics that you can relate to now, but with the ease of arriving in your in-box to read at your convenience as opposed to being discussed over Thanksgiving dinner!

I’m young!  Why do I need to start saving/investing/planning now?

Because managing your finances is similar to building a house– the foundation comes first. These will be the blocks on which to build your financial future and help fulfill your goals – whether it’s buying a home, retiring early, putting your kids through college, or even spending more time on things you love, like travel etc.

Building your financial knowledge early can reap lifetime rewards.

What topics will be addressed?

Initial topics will address why it is so valuable to begin saving early, even right out of college. Then, we’ll show you how saving even the smallest amount each month will matter over time.   Other topics will include:

  • What is a credit score, and how do you build one?
  • The benefits of a budget and how to easily create one.
  • Which savings should you prioritize?
  • Identifying an appropriate investment allocation.
  • Timing the market (and why you shouldn’t try).
  • What to think about when buying (and saving for) a car or home.
  • What is a financial plan, and how do you create one?
  • Discussing finances with your partner.
  • Saving for a child’s education.
  • Insurance – life, disability, and long-term care.
  • Job transitions.

Our goal is to create an educational platform that answers a wide variety of financial questions and simplifies complex topics.

And, as always, we would appreciate your input on how to make this educational series more constructive so if you have an idea for a topic you would like covered, simply email us at info@htgadvisors.com.

How much does the program cost?

There is no cost to join the Financial Foundations program.  At HTG, we believe that financial education benefits us all and we are pleased to share our expertise with those who show an interest in their financial future and register for this program.
