CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®
I was born in South Africa near the end of Apartheid. My parents worked on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, and when I was eight, my father was offered an opportunity to move to the US. My family settled in Scarsdale, NY, where I graduated from high school followed by Boston University and a semester in Israel.
After college, I joined Moody’s Investors Service where I worked on developing and implementing procedures to comply with the new Dodd-Frank regulations. During this time, I recognized my need and affinity for client interaction. I knew I wanted my future career to include working directly with clients.
As an immigrant in this country, I understand the obstacles people encounter in rebuilding their lives. Through my parents’ experiences, I learned that skilled (or knowledgeable) guidance and planning could provide stability and peace of mind in stressful situations. This message was reinforced when helping my aunt and uncle determine when to retire. A solid financial plan provided them with the tools needed to allay their anxiety about spending and lifestyle in retirement.
My young professional friends often share with me their discomfort with financial matters. They ask me questions and acknowledge their confusion about mortgages, 401(k)s, IRAs, 529s, student loans, and more. They often wonder, “Why don’t they teach us any of this in school?”
In college, I greatly enjoyed my psychology classes because I gained insight into personality types and why people behave and think as they do.
For me, a career in wealth management was a perfect way to incorporate this passion for psychology, plus my business background and my empathy for people, with the goal of having a positive impact on their financial health.
In 2013, I joined a team at Morgan Stanley to learn the business. In 2018, to solidify the foundation and knowledge I had developed during my time in the industry, I earned my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification. I am committed to financial planning and investment management as powerful tools for clients to shape their financial futures. In 2021 I had the opportunity to join HTG and apply these tools as a fee-only financial planner. I am thrilled to join this dynamic team and be a part of this firm.
When not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two young sons, playing tennis, and exercising. Over the years, I have been a member of various charities including, the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, and Friends of the IDF.
