When in college had someone told me I would be working in financial services, my response would have been “No way!” Upon graduating from NYU with a BA in Anthropology, my first job was at The American Museum of Natural History in New York City, my hometown.
I was able to land a small paying job helping the Chairman of the Anthropology Department with his research. Working in the museum near Margaret Mead and the many storerooms of artifacts stored in the attic was exhilarating.
After three years of pinching pennies, I decided it was time to move on. My only skill was typing so I began work as an Administrative Assistant, first at Gulf & Western (where I met my former husband), and then at United Brands (the Chiquita Banana company).
After marrying, I chose to stay home and raise our two daughters. A part time job at Northwestern Mutual was my first step back in to the work force. I could set my own hours and still be there for my daughters when they were out of school.
Over the next five years I obtained my Connecticut Insurance license and became registered with their broker dealer, enabling me to make the transition from Associate Agent to Financial Representative.
In 2008 my marriage collapsed and divorce was imminent. My commissioned job at Northwestern was not adequate and I needed full time work with a steady income. HTG had placed an ad in the local paper and the rest is history.
It is my pleasure to lend a hand where needed and I’m thrilled to be surrounded by colleagues willing to share their knowledge.
Through the years, my duties have expanded to include receptionist, marketing, scheduling, data management and client services, just to name a few.
In my free time, I can be found on the tennis courts playing a friendly game of doubles or a USTA competitive match. My newest hobby is bird watching. The gym keeps me fit and my two grandchildren keep me young at heart.
