Shannon Vizza of HTG Advisors

Growing up in New Mexico, I always had a dream of moving to New York City. While in college, I got an internship at the Dean Witter brokerage office in Albuquerque. I learned about the financial markets and investing, and was fortunate enough to be offered a place in their Account Executive training program after I graduated.

Through this program, I became a licensed securities representative. After working there for a couple of years, I realized that I loved the analytical side of the job over the sales side, and was ready for a change.

I made the bold decision to leave the comfort of my home state and move to New York City, fulfilling that childhood dream. I was fortunate to be able to transfer to the Dean Witter New York office and worked on administering client 401(k) plans.

From there, I advanced to Merrill Lynch to work in their Human Resources department on their employee retirement and savings plans, and eventually gained experience in HR systems and technology projects.

While in New York, I got married and my husband was offered an expatriate assignment in Tokyo for two years, and then was moved to London for four years. I continued working in Tokyo and London for Merrill Lynch and later for Lehman Brothers. My husband and I took every chance we could to travel the world while we had this amazing opportunity!

Our first daughter was born in London and I made the decision to take a break from work so I could be at home with her full-time. We had a second daughter when we moved back to the States. I will always be thankful that I was able to spend this time at home with my two daughters while they were young.

I worked as a part-time retirement benefits specialist in human resources for a couple of years as a way to transition back into the workforce. When I heard about an opportunity to work at a local investment advisory firm, I was intrigued.

After meeting with the incredible staff at HTG and learning about their business, I realized this was a perfect fit for me. Luckily, they agreed!

I am thrilled to be the newest member of the HTG family, and in my client administration role continue the firm’s tradition of providing exceptional customer service to our clients.

It is a chance for me to combine my experience in the financial services industry with my desire to help people with their financial futures.

Life is busy with two young daughters at home. In addition to spending time with family and friends, I enjoy food, wine and travel.
